Communities like to come together and host events to bring the community together in the spirit of fun. Most of these events occur annually and give you a chance to socialize with the other residents of the community. Some the activities you can look forward to in Invermere and on Lake Windermere, BC, include:

Winter Events on Lake Windermere

• Kinsmen Ice Fishing Derby: Frozen lakes and ponds are common in the Windermere Lake region of British Colombia. Therefore making ice fishing a hobby. Furthermore, there is good news for ice fishing fans and enthusiasts. There is an ice fishing Derby. The derby is being an annual event holding in January. Above all, there are cash prizes for the first, second and third positions.
• Columbia Valley Rockies Pond Hockey Championship: Hockey is, without a doubt, the biggest sport in Canada, and this excitement flows into the British Columbia province. Featuring outdoor hockey rinks on Lake Windermere at Kinsmen Beach. Even more, there is beer, hot cocoa, and loads of other fun snacks and treats. Family and friends come together to compete for the title. The rules are a bit different from the standard rules, and the competition lasts an entire weekend. It doesn’t get better than this for the hockey enthusiasts.
• Bonspiel on the Lake / Snowflake festival: This is one of the most popular and longest-running events in 1982 to help fund the original curling club expenses. This event is so fun; hence there is a waiting list to get into this event. Also on Friday is the Snowflake Festival. It is an introduction to food vendors, live music, cocoa, and warming stations, as well as one of the town’s most dazzling fireworks.  As a result, this brings thousands of supporters out to watch the sky be lit up on a crisp winter’s night. Curlers from all over BC and Alberta enter teams to curling in the great outdoors on Lake Windermere ice sheets. No matter what the conditions.

  Winter in Motion Festival: During the winter, most people confine themselves to their homes’ warmth. At Lake Windermere, BC, the residents have fun and drown out the cold. We enjoy a winter wonderland in the outdoors, with the snow. From December to March, the events roll out, with each month having its own set of events.

  Summer Events

• Rocky Mountain Rally: With a mountain range in the vicinity and the amount of on-road and off-road driving tournaments in Canada, this was always going to happen. The event offers a 2-day experience with the races divided into stages and earning points, which creates an overall standing; this is used to determine the winner. TSN has broadcasted this event.
• Invermere Farmer’s Market: Farmer’s markets provide fresh products, which is a healthy feeding option. The Lake Windermere BC community would not be complete without one. Most noteworthy local and nearby vendors showcase their products ranging from food to unique products and offer discounted rates on all purchases.
  

  Put on by Nonprofit Organizations

• Heart of the Rockies Triathlon: This particular event has been on for over 30 years. First taking place in 1983 with 56 participants. Now the race has grown to and now features over 200 participants, a beautiful community spirit demonstration. The race involves swimming, biking, and running over different distances for different age groups.
• Loop the Lake Walk & Run: There are two parts to the event, the walk and then the run. Residents put their physical ability to the test with a professional-style walk contest, which is quickly followed by a race to the finish line. At the end of such an event, complimentary food and drinks are made available to the participants.
• Bull Riding in the Rockies: Bull riding is a treasured sport in North America, and Lake Windermere BC puts on a spectacle with it. The competition is an annual event, and community members come out in numbers to see who can tame the bull. It is a sold-out event each year.
• Valley Appreciation Day: No real community would be complete without an appreciation day. Residents converge, eat, drink, have cart races, live entertainment, and usually complimentary meals from the hosting location.
