Panorama Mountain Resort Ready to Adapt to a New Terrain

The dynamic and beautiful Panorama Mountain Resort is getting ready for the winter season. Panorama Mountain Resort has integrated new COVID-19 protocols to keep visitors safe. The provincial COVID-19 guidelines for ski hills and mountain resorts are permitted to operate at almost regular capacity. To help you get ready for a season of safe winter fun. The DK Rice has gathered all the information you need to know about heading up to the hill during the pandemic.

The 2020/2021 Panorama Mountain Resort Season

The Panorama Mountain Resort, located in the BC Kootenay Rockies, is set to open on December 11, 2020, pending weather and snow conditions in the region. Cross-country terrain is slated to be open in mid-December. The resort is planning to stay open until April 11, 2021.

The Panorama Mountain Resort management team has made a significant investment into the snow-making fleet, adding 35 snow guns to their already impressive roster of over 300 machines.

The resort maintenance team has been hard at work since October 15, getting the hill ready for the opening weekend, hoping that conditions cooperate and allow the hill to open slightly ahead of schedule. Let’s all send good vibes for snow this winter!

New additions at Panorama.

In addition to the investment made in the resort’s snow-making technologies, the Panorama team has also made a significant investment in upgrading the resort infrastructure by improving terrain over the off-season. A new run has been cut into the Sun Bowl area of the resort. More gliding in the Monster area of the Taynton Bowl. The Monster X cat is expected to run this season. As of result, accommodations were made for social distancing and mandatory face coverings. We can’t wait to try it out!

Our country’s top skiers and snowboarders will also be returning to Panorama this season. As a result, on November 6, top Olympians and hopefuls arrived from British Columbia and Western Canada to begin training at the world-class resort.

Mountain Collective

In addition to their standard season passes and lift ticket options, the Panorama Mountain Resort recently announced that the resort had joined the Mountain Collective. Mountain Collective members can spend multiple days at participating ski resorts worldwide with one season pass. Keeping Panorama Mountain Resort Resort go-ers safe

The Panorama Mountain Resort will be integrating several new upgrades. Also, they are taking proactive measures to keep visitors safe this winter season. Both federal and provincial guidelines will guide the resort’s operating guide for the 2020/2021 season. In addition to supporting from agencies like Interior Health and the Canada West Ski Areas Association.

New Changes

Several precautions are being integrated into the reservation and booking systems at Panorama Mountain Resort. For the reason that to ensure the resort can maintain social distancing protocols subsequently, new changes this year include:

  • Must purchase lift tickets online or by phone. Therefore, lift tickets will not be sold on-site. However, unless part of an external, third-party program like the Lake Louise Plus Card or the Grade 4/5 Snow Pass.
  • Season pass holders will continue to have unrestricted access to the mountain. Also, reservations in advance are not required.
  • The resort’s RFID system is still available to book day tickets, season passes, and SNOW+ Cards online with the Panorama Advantage Card.
  • Blackout dates for the SNOW+ Card will be during key holiday periods. December 25, 2020 – January 3, 2021, and February 15-17, 2021.
  • If federal, provincial, or foreign governments place any travel bans, cancellations on all reservations at the resort will be accepted.

The provincial and federal recommendation for Panorama Mountain Resort

Many regulations are being implemented to encourage social distancing and good hygiene practices. These COVID-19 guidelines at Panorama Mountain Resort are subject to change based on provincial and federal recommendations.

  • Two-meter physical distancing guidelines must be enforced.
  • In all indoor public areas, Face coverings and masks are now mandatory.
  • All indoor areas will have a hand sanitizing station.
  • Guests who are feeling unwell or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. Most importantly, if you are not feeling well you will be not allowed to visit the resort.
  • The provincial government requires all food and beverage services to operate at 5o% normal capacity. Bar service and hours at all resort dining locations will be reduced. We encourage guests to check the guidelines. Must book to dine at the resort.

Closures at Panorama

The recommendation of health officials several resort amenities will be closed for the time being.

These closures include:

  • The Panorama Springs warm pool and hot tubs will be open. The resort sauna will not be available to guests.
  • Undetermined if the ski locker room will be available to guests this season.
  • There will be no reserved parking. Guest shuttles will not be operational. Consequently, at the resort, there are several parking options available.
  • No group event will be permitted over 50 people.
  • All apres-ski activities, including live music, DJs, kids activities, and holiday events, will be canceled this year.
